Where Spark Read pulls ahead
Read your files, not just web pages
Spark Read imports PDFs, EPUBs, Word docs, Markdown and text into a library on your phone or in your browser. BeeLine works on the web page or PDF you have open.
Native apps on iPhone and Android
Spark Read has its own apps on both platforms. BeeLine has a free iPhone Safari extension and points Android users to a third-party app.
A pace you set
RSVP moves at the speed you choose, from 100 to 1000 words per minute, with longer pauses at sentence ends. BeeLine helps your eyes move between lines but doesn’t set a pace.
Keep your place and your progress
Spark Read saves your position in every document, tracks reading time and speed, and syncs when you sign in.
When BeeLine Reader is the right pick
If you want to read web pages, documents and course materials in their normal layout, with images and tables intact, and just want help tracking from line to line, BeeLine is a better fit than any RSVP app, and it’s built into tools many schools already use. Spark Read is the better pick when you want to work through long documents at a set pace.
Frequently asked
Which is faster, BeeLine or RSVP?
It depends on the reader and the text. RSVP can show words faster than most people read a page, but comprehension falls as speed rises (Rayner et al., 2016). BeeLine leaves your normal reading intact and aims to cut the time lost finding the next line. Try both on the same document.

Does BeeLine Reader make you read faster?
The evidence is mixed. BeeLine cites classroom pilots and partner data showing gains. The one independent peer-reviewed test we found (Koornneef & Kraal, 2022) saw faster reading for grade-2 pupils only with long lines and tight spacing, slower reading with well-laid-out text, and a possible comprehension cost for grade-3 pupils.

Can I still see tables, images and the page layout?
In BeeLine, yes: it colours the page as it is. Spark Read shows text one word at a time, so it suits prose more than tables or charts.
Does BeeLine work on PDFs, EPUBs and Android?
BeeLine handles text-based PDFs through its PDF viewer extension and EPUBs through partners such as Perlego. On Android it recommends the third-party ReadMe! app. Spark Read imports PDF, EPUB and Word files directly on iPhone, Android and the web.
